Fred Leveke was born at Hebron, Ia., March 4th, 1877. Mr. Leveke spent his entire life up to three years ago on a farm in Adair county, at this time the ravages of disease, which terminated his life compelled him to give up work. During these three years he made a constant and heroic effort to regain his health, and to the very last he had all hopes of recovery. His great patience was a marked characteristic in his life, was manifest to all with whom he came in contact, quiet and unassuming in his nature, loving and considerate to all about him and was loved by everyone.
Having the opportunities of a Christian home in his early life he knew the value of fellowship with the divine during his afflictions, and the dear ones about him knew of his preparations to meet his Heavenly Father.
On March 22, 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Edna Kirkland, who with a father, five sisters and three brothers survive him. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1906 and had been a regular attendant at Sunday school his entire life. He departed this life at Dr. Lindlahr’s Sanitarium, Chicago, Ill., March 24, 1910, age 33 years and 20 days. How bright the prospect of his eternal rest as he fought a good fight and kept the faith.
Mrs. C. H. Kamphoefner, of Webster City, Ia; Mrs. J. H. Kleinsmidt, of St. Louis, Mo; Henry Leveke, of Hebron; Mrs. S. M. Jolliffe and Mrs. Elmer Minshall, of Logan; Earnest Leveke, of Des Moines; Harry and Ruth Leveke, of Winterset, are the sisters and brothers of the deceased.
