Polly Ann Trester was born in Marion County, Indiana June 15, 1853 and passed away November 12, 1927 near Winterset, Madison county, Iowa, at the home of her niece, Mrs. Edna Koehler, after an illness of six days. Having been stricken with paralysis on Sunday evening, November 6th. She lingered between life and death until our Heavenly Father relieved her of all earthly suffering Saturday morning.
She was the daughter of Jacob and Rachel Trester, one of a family of eight children. She came with her parents when a child of three from their home in Indiana, to Iowa where they located north of Winterset, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Francis Marion Alexander January 19, 1871. They resided there until 1878, when they moved to near Clarinda, where they lived until the spring of 1910. Then they moved to Perkins county, South Dakota where they resided until last spring.
Growing old and not being able to care for their ranch home, they came back to Iowa to make their home with their daughter, Myrtle, and her husband.
To this union were born seven children, five boys and two girls. The family circle remained unbroken until last spring when the eldest son, Charles A. passed away March 3rd.
She leaves to mourn her loss her aged husband and six children, Mrs. Myrtle Caruthers, of Gravity, Iowa, Edd, John and George, Hixon, South Dakota, Wray and Mrs. Nellie Hipsley, of Essex, Iowa and Mrs. Jennie Alexander, the wife of Charles. All were present at the funeral except George. She leaves also two sisters, Mrs. Alice Gaskill, Horton, Missouri, and Mrs. Grant Dunn, of Winterset, and an aged brother James Trester of Chicago. She leaves 10 grandchildren who loved her dearly and many other relatives and friends.
She was a kind, loving, unselfish and devoted wife and mother, beloved and respected by all of her friends. She was always ready to help in sickness or in need. Although she never affiliated with any church she tried to follow the teachings of God and the Golden Rule. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but such is the law of God.
