Two funerals on Sunday were prepared for both of old pioneer ladies who have lived here for many years, but were away at time of death. Mrs. L. C. Hughes died at her late home in New Virginia on Friday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery on Sunday afternoon.

The remains of Mrs. Athy, who died at the home of her son near Kearney, Nebraska, was expected here in time for burial on Sunday, but was delayed to the extent of being compelled to remain in Osceola over Sunday, the funeral being Monday.
