Bessie I. Sott died Feb. 10, 2001, at age 97. There will be no service.

Mrs. Scott was born May 28, 1903, in Winterset, Iowa, where she grew up. Her maiden name was Darnall. A homemaker, she moved to Portland about 1920. She married Earl McCarthy in 1920; he died in 1938. In 1943, she married Henry Sott; he died in 1975.

Survivors include her sons, Ken McCarthy and Neil McCarthy; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her son Keith McCarthy died in combat on Okinawa during World War II.

Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements are by Young's Funeral Home & Crematory.
