VIRGIL PENDER Commits Suicide by Hanging.

Virgil Pender, a resident of this county until last March, commited suicide by hanging, on Tuesday of last week at his home in Worth county, Missouri.

Pender was a young man aged 25, son of Harvey Pender of this place. Last spring he moved from here to a farm in Missouri. He had met with good success in his new location, but he worried over his financial affairs until he lost his mind and decided to end all by taking his life. He received an injury by falling through a bridge some months ago and it is thought that this caused his derangement.

The remains were brought here for burial and the funeral services held on Friday and the interment made at the old Baptist cemetery just north of Winterset.

The unfortunate young man leaves a wife, formerly Miss Lottie Thompson, of Penn township, and one child.
