J. B. Lenocker, a well-to-do farmer of Penn township and an uncle of supervisor, R. A. Lenocker was instantly killed shortly after noon on last Saturday by a wagon passing over his neck.

Mr. Lenocker recently moved to Dexter having turned over the management of his Penn township farm to his son. On the day of the accident he drove to the farm accompanied by one of his children, a little girl, to deliver a calf. They had just dismounted from the wagon when the horses started, the wheel of the wagon passed over his neck and death was instantaneous. The funeral services were held at Dexter on Tuesday and interment made in the cemetery just south of town.

JACOB LENOCKER KILLED SATURDAY

Prominent Penn Township Farmer Killed Instantly – Is Crushed Beneath the Wheels\

Jacob Lenocker, Brother of Fred Lenocker Was Instantly Killed in a Runaway. Ten Year Old Daughter Witnessed the Death of Her Father

Jacob Lenocker, a resident of Madison county since 1870 and one of the wealthiest citizens in the county was instantly killed on his farm in a runaway accident last Saturday afternoon. Mr. Lenocker moved to Dexter some time ago. Saturday he started to take a calf to the farm, taking with him in the wagon his ten-year-old daughter. He drove into the pasture of his farm four miles south of Dexter and started to unload the calf, but concluded the vaccinate it before dumping it on the ground.

While preparing the virus the team started up and both Mr. Lenocker and his daughter made a run for the lines, which were wrapped around the brake. In reaching for them the little girl says she thinks her father fell against the hub, striking his head and was knocked forward under the wheel. From the bruised condition of Mr. Lenocker’s head it is evident that two wheels passed over his head. His neck was broken and death was instantaneous.

The girl ran to some man who were shucking corn nearby and the body was taken to the house.

Mr. Lenocker was seventy-six years old. He was one of the wealthiest farmers in the County and a man always much admired. He was the father of sixteen children, thirteen of whom were present at the funeral. Only two of the children are dead, the other one could not be reached in time to attend the funeral. Interment took place at Penn Center Wednesday afternoon.
