Elizabeth Hornback was born in Champaign county, Ohio, in 1824. She came to Indiana with her parents when a child, where she resided until 1853. She was married to Samuel Duncan May 11, 1843. To this union were born 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy all of whom were present at the funeral except one daughter who resides in Akron, Ohio.
She united with the M. E. church more than 30 years ago, but about seven years ago she with her husband united with the Christian church of which she was a faithful member at the time of her death, which came Friday morning, Oct. 18, 1907. Her husband preceded her to the other land by about 18 months. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, four daughters, several grandchildren and many friends.
The funeral services were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Gardner on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by her pastor Rev. E. E. Bennett, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Rock City cemetery. Grandma Duncan was an old settler in the county, and had many friends, all of whom will feel the loss of an old neighbor and friend.
