David Eugene Young, 73, of Des Moines died suddenly at home Feb. 23, 2010, from a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 27, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial followed at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bidwell – Riverside, 1203 Hartford Ave., Des Moines, IA 50315, the American Cancer Society, or the Animal Rescue League. David Young was born Feb. 4, 1937, in St. Charles to Forrest and Phyllis Young and was a 1956 graduate of St. Charles High School. David retired from Dewey Ford, where he worked as a car salesman for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by one son, William Young; three daughters, Sandra Peck, Lori Downs, and Lesley Gesaman; three sisters, Patricia Brandt, Christine Day, and Sheryl Mattern; and five grandsons.

Services for David Eugene Young, 73, who died suddenly at home from a heart attack on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 27 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA, with burial following in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, IA.
David was born February 4, 1937 in St. Charles, IA, the son of Forrest and Phyllis Young. He played basketball and baseball in high school graduating from St. Charles High School in 1956. David retired from Dewey Ford where he had worked as a car salesman for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, going to the horse races and spending time with his family.
David is survived by his son, William Young (Dione); three daughters, Sandra Peck, Lori Downs (Larry) and Lesley Gesaman (Joel); five grandsons, Forrest, Tucker and Garrett Young and Brady and Lucas Peck; and three sisters, Patricia Brandt (Don), Christine Day (Dennis) and Sheryl Mattern (David); and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 26 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorial contributions can be made to Bidwell – Riverside, 1203 Hartford Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50315, the American Cancer Society or the Animal Rescue League.
