JOE SAXTON, WINTERSET

Joe Saxton, 75, of Winterset died Feb. 18, 2010, at his residence.

Memorial services were held Monday, Feb. 22, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Duane Lauer officiating. The cremains will be interred in the Winterset Cemetery at a later date. Memorials given to the family will be directed to Middle River Hospice or the Winterset Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Joe Saxton was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Des Moines to Mott and Leone (Robbins) Saxton. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1953 and later from Iowa State University. His marriage to Marlene Kay Spencer took place Feb. 18, 1956, in Ft. Collins, Colo. Joe had been a lifetime resident of Winterset and owner and operator of Green Turf Florist for many years until his retirement in 1999. He also had done extensive landscaping. He served as a member of the Winterset Parks and Recreation Board for many years and was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene, of Winterset; his children — Ed Saxton of Killeen, Texas, Jeff Saxton of Carlisle, and Lori McKenna of Ankeny; and two grandchildren.

JOE SAXTON, Winterset

Joe Saxton, 75, former owner of Green Turf Florist in Winterset, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his residence in Winterset, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 22, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The body has been cremated with the cremains being interred in the Winterset Cemetery at a later date.

Joe is survived by his wife, Marlene Saxton of Winterset; children, Ed (Donna) Saxton of Killeen, TX, Jeff Saxton of Carlisle and Lori (Shawn) McKenna of Ankeny; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mott and Leone (Robbins) Saxton.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday at McCalley- Collins Funeral Home. Memorials given to the family will be directed to Middle River Hospice or the Winterset Seventh Day Adventist Church.
