Madison County Man Found Dead in River

The body of Fred Murray, 58, a farmer living near St. Charles, was found in a sand bar in the Nishnabotna river near Shenandoah Tuesday.

Murray had been missing from his home since August 19th, but had been located through a radio station in Shenandoah some time later.

Mrs. Murray had asked that a description of the missing man be broadcast, and upon hearing this, Murray had presented himself to the station announcer and communicated with his family.

Relatives made a trip to Shenandoah August 30th, after mailing funds to Murray in a letter which was unclaimed.

Coroner Ralph Lovelady of Sidney indicated yesterday that the death was a suicide. He is survived by a wife and seven children, all of near St. Charles. No funeral arrangements have been made yet.
