Obituary

William Andrew Doak was born April 27th, 1855, in Warren county, Iowa, and died June 25th, 1905, in Jefferson township, Madison county. Mr. Doak came to Madison county with his parents when 12 years of age, and has been a resident of the same part of the county ever since. Thirty years ago next December he was married to Sarah Ellen McDaniel. To them were born 8 children, one of whom died in infancy. The wife and 7 children are left in bereavement.

The deceased professed saving faith in Christ when 18 years of age and united with the M. E. church at the Center school house.

Twenty three years ago last winter he and his wife and his father and mother united with the U.B. church at the Doak school house. During his last sickness of many long months, he called Rev. Young and the writer to his bedside and after singing and prayer he professed to enter into renewed peace in Christ.

Mr. Doak was industrious and neighborly. He was well known and had many friends.

The funeral procession to the North River U.B. church and the cemetery near by was probably the longest ever in the locality. The pall-bearers were Geo. Cox, Jn. Reagle, Ira Greenwood, Henry Brown, Chas. Wishmire and Jake Jones. Gudlef Brooker assisted the writer in the services.

The bereaved wife and children are entitled to the sympathy of the entire community.
