September 1969John Franklin McClure, son of Edward and Nellie McClure, was born Jan. 25, 1892, near Silver City, Iowa and died at his home in Indianola, Iowa, Sept. 6, 1969 at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 12 days.
When a young boy, he moved with his family to the Broadhorn community. He was a member of the Broadhorn Church and attended school in this community.
On Oct. 9, 1912, he was married to Roxie Merle Johnson, who died July 21, 1956. To this union, three sons were born.
He was married Dec. 19, 1963, to Dorothy Campbell who survives him.
He lived on a farm in St. Marys 49 years until he retired in November 1656 and moved to Indianola.
He was proceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harley E. and Loren E., and an infant grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, three sons, Lawence of St. Charles, Forrest of Ankeny, and Ivan of Scottsdale, Ariz; two sisters, Gladys McCrea of St. Charles and Mabel Minard of Truro; one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sept. 11 at the St. Charles Methodist Church with the Rev. James M. Louk officiating. Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery.
