RICHARD M. "RICK" TIBBETTS, Des Moines

Rick Tibbetts, 52, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 from Pick's Disease at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue, with burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery near Cumming.
Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Rick was born November 26, 1957 to Peggy and Roy Tibbetts in Des Moines. He was a life long lover of sports, which he both participated and coached. He touched many people's lives through his compassion and energetic personality. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He owned and operated several small companies in Des Moines.

Rick is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 27 years, Lori Tibbetts; children, Angela (Kurt) Smith, Melissa Tibbetts, Allie (Joe Hutchins) Tibbetts, and Zachary Tibbetts; grandchildren, Boston, Brooklyn, Abby, Sammy, and Annabelle; parents, Roy and Peggy Tibbetts; grandmother, Margaret Roach; brother, William Tibbetts; sisters, Terri Tibbetts and Michele (Todd) Rhoades; many nieces, nephews, friends, and "The Village".

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Martin Roach.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mayo Clinic for research of Frontal Temporal Disease, also known as Pick's Disease; or St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
