Russell Eckstein, 78, of Winterset, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 22, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Madison County, Iowa.
Russell Eckstein was born April 12, 1931, to L. J. & Mary (Grout) Eckstein of Winterset.
He was married on Oct. 2, 1955, at Madison County, Iowa, to Josephine Myrtle Kirscher. He was a lifetime resident of Winterset and had been a farm hand and hog farmer, working for Don Hannon and Bill Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Eckstein; infant son, Martin Ray Eckstein; and brothers, infant Robert Ray Eckstein, John Eckstein and James Eckstein.
He is survived by his daughter, Martina (Richard) Tipton of Murray; brother, Earl Eckstein of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley - Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
