Local Tips

The funeral of Mrs. John Baker occurred from the home last Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett of the Christian church.

She was born in Livingston county, Ill. in 1842, came to Iowa in 1853 and was married to John Baker in Feb. 1861. To this union was born seven children, four sons and three daughters, all of whom survive her.

She was a severe sufferer, and though friends did all in their power to help her, yet the death angel came and a dark shadow was cast over the home. Remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
