Obituary

Martha M. Thompson was born in Pennsylvania July 2, 1825. In 1848 she was married to Samuel Hilderbrand. To them were born nine children. Four sons and one daughter remain in Madison county and vicinity. The husband and four children preceding her. Mrs. Hilderbrand passed away Sabbath evening Jan. 1, 1905, at the residence of her son Scott, having almost reached the limit of four score. Early in life Mrs. Hilderbrand professed her faith in a Savior and on March 4, 1866, transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church in Winterset. Though for some years past too feeble to attend the services of the church, she maintained her faith in Christ and died in the hope of a blessed immortality.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Name on gravestone is Hildebrand.
