On the morning of July 2nd, Mrs. Eliza Kenworthy passed to her reward after a short illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Craven.
Her living children, all of whom were present are: A. A. Kenworthy, Cresline, Kan., Mary E. Craven, of this place, Emily Bufkin, of Lynnville, Ia., and Hannah A. Bullock, of Rock Island, Illinois.
Aunt Eliza had passed the allotted three score years and ten, being eighty years, three months and nine days old. She was a faithful member in the Friends church and was anxious for her release from life’s cares.
The funeral services were held at the Friends’ church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. W. Stribling, of West Branch.

Thursday, July 7, 1904Eliza Gregg-Kenworthy was born in Belmont county, Ohio, March 23, 1821. Her parents moved to Henry county, Ind., when she was four years old, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Jesse W. Kenworthy at Greensboro, Indiana, Sept. 26, 1842.
In April, 1854, they moved by wagon, in company with two other families to Iowa and settled in Poweshiek county, 9 miles south of Grinnell, where they improved a large farm. In 1868 they sold out and moved to Earlham, Madison county, Iowa, where she has spent most of her time since.
She was deprived by death of her loving husband June 1, 1891; her son Seth 11, died in the fall of 1892; her daughter, Sarah H. Edwards, died last February. Her living children all of whom were present and had been through her last sickness are: A. A. Kenworthy, Cresline, Kan.; Mary E. Craven of this place; Emily Bufkin of Lynnville, Iowa; and Hannah A. Bullock of Rock Island, Ill.
Mother Kenworthy had a birthright in the Friends church, was converted when she was 15 and lived a devoted Christian all her life. She and her husband both being ministers traveled extensively as evangelists in Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska. They held very successful revival meetings and were the instruments in the Lord’s hands of leading a great many to the master, and organized several churches.
On the morning of the 2d of July, 1904, Mother Kenworthy was called to join the loved ones gone before, being a sheaf fully ripe, at 80 years, 3 months and 9 days. She will be sadly missed in the church, in her home and by her many friends and neighbors for to know her was to love her.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Friends church conducted by Rev. J. W. Stribling. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
