St, Charles -

Mr. Paulson, an aged man and a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home west of St. Charles Thursday.

The funeral was held at the M.E. church at St. Charles Saturday at 11 o’clock, the services being conducted by Rev. Smith. Interment in St. Charles cemetery. A detail of John Miller post G.A.R. acted as pall bearers.

On the 10th, inst., in the Methodist church in the city, the Rev. W. C Smith, the pastor, officiating, was held at the funeral exercises of Mr. James Paulsen, of Jackson township, Warren county, four miles south east of St. Charles.

The deceased was a member of the 185th regiment of the Ohio volunteer infantry and seen much service during the civil war.

At the date of his death he was seventy-seven years old, and an entirely helpless paralytic, requiring the constant attendance of one or more of the family for many months last past. He was tenderly cared for by his aged wife (now his widow) and two sons who remain on the parental farm. The family -- (at least two lines here can't be read).

This excellent gentleman, who has lived a long, useful and respectable life and who did his part in maintaining involate the supremacy of his government and carry Old Glory to victory, leaves to mourn and revere the memory of a noble husband, father, and friend, and aged wife, a number of children and an uncounted host of friends.

Burial is in the St. Charles cemetery. At the request of the family the John Miller Post provided the pallbearers and detailed for the duty, Comrades, Samuel Fife, Adam Siedel, Henry Hill, W. L. Allen, Harris Peters, and G. H. Cheek.
