Among the local items crowded out of last week’s paper was the notice of the death of J. F. Buchanan, the well known farmer of Douglas township. He was one of the best and most favorably known citizens and had many friends in the city and county. The funeral occurred last Friday. He had been in feeble health for several years.

Transcriber’s note: First name taken from gravestone at Winterset Cemetery.
