Death of an Old Settler

Mrs. Adaline Milligan died at the residence of her son, S. W. Milligan, in Des Moines Monday night, aged seventy-four years.

Deceased was born in Switzerland county, Indiana, July 10th, 1829. Eighteen years later she was united in marriage to S. W. Milligan, whose family resided near that of her parents. She came to Iowa in company with her husband in 1856. They settled in this county, about ten miles southwest of Winterset, where she continued to reside until the death of her husband, about two years ago. Shortly after the death of her husband she removed to Des Moines and made her home with her son, S. W. Milligan. About one year ago deceased suffered a severe attack of la grippe. She continued to grow worse, and the decline, though gradual, was ever toward the end.

Five children survive her: George H., Idaho Springs, Idaho; Mary Baker, Latta, Washington; S. W., Des Moines; Perry, Colorado Springs; Stella, Carrolton, Iowa; and J. W., Madison county.

The remains were brought to Winterset and the funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Pleasant View church in Webster township.
