On Monday evening about six o’clock as Ebenezer Hays was in the barn lot attending to his chores, he suddenly fell to the ground, and when his son, Will, who was but a short distance away got to him he was shocked to find he was dead. Medical aid was summoned, but the doctor pronounced life extinct. Thus one of our best and oldest citizens was suddenly summoned to meet his Maker.

Eb Hays, one of the old settlers of this county, died at his home near the Worthington church on Monday evening. He had been enjoying his usual health which was unusually good for one of his age, being nearly 78 years old.
On Monday evening he started to the barn yard to help with the milking and was stricken with heart failure and died almost instantly. The funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. from the Worthington church.
