Iva Haywood was born in Madison county, Iowa, April 17th, 1870. Here she grew to womanhood. She was married to E. H. Reese, Jan. 13th, 1901. Mr. Reese died Jan. 5th, 1903.
She united with the University Place Church of Christ in Des Moines, during the great revival conducted by Evangelist Updike about twenty years ago, when but a mere child. About two years ago she suffered a severe shock from lightning, since which time her health has constantly failed. Though loving hands of mother, father, and friends did all that could be done, death claimed her. The writer was often at the home during her sickness and her hope in Christ grew brighter as her days grew less, and on the morning of April 2nd, 1906, with a smile as radiant as light she fell asleep.
The funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. E. E. Bennett, and the remains were laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery.
