SAMUEL PORTER

Samuel Porter died at his home in Union county on January 13, 1913. He had been in failing health for over a year. The funeral was held at his home on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock and the remains laid to rest in the Macksburg cemetery.

Samuel Porter was born in Indiana, June 18, 1853; died January 13, 1913, aged fifty-nine years, six month and twenty-six days. In childhood he came with his parents to Madison County and has spent the remainder of his life near there.

In 1877, he was united in marriage to Minerva Edingston, who passed away in 1888. To this union were born five children, two having died in childhood. He was again united in marriage to Josie Bierce. This union was blessed with five children, who are all living.

He was a loving father, kind neighbor and helpful friend. He leaves to mourn his loss; a wife, eight children, a sister and twelve grandchildren; all living in this state, and all except two children were present at his death.

Samuel M. Porter was born in Indiana June 18, 1853 and died at his home in Union county, Iowa, Jan. 14, 1913, aged 59 years 6 months and 26 days. He had been in failing health for over a year.

In childhood he came with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, and has spent the remainder of his life near there.

In 1877 he was united in marriage to Minerva Edgington, who passed away Jan. 14, 1888. To this union were born five children, two having died in childhood. He was again united in marriage in 1889 to Josie Bierce. This union was blessed with five children, who are all living.
