Mrs. Christina Klingensmith died on last Saturday afternoon at the home of her son, H. A. Klingensmith, after an illness of several months. She fell down stairs one day during the winter, injuring her hip severely, and her death came as a result of such injury.

She was one of the early settlers of his county having lived here about forty-five years. Her husband died some two years ago.

The funeral services were held in Fairview church on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. E. Nichols. Her remains were laid away in the Fairview cemetery. A daughter in California and a son in Washington were unable to be present.

Christina White was born in Marion county, Ind., June 27, 1833, and died in Earlham, Iowa, on June 7, 1902, aged 68 years, 11 months and 20 days.

She was married to Daniel Klingensmith April 18, 1852. To this union was born four children; three sons and one daughter.

There are left to mourn the loss of a mother; two sons and one daughter, the father and one son having preceded her in their departure from this life.

Mother Klingensmith, or Aunt Tena as she was commonly known in her old community has been a faithful member of the M.E. church for many years.

She loved her church, although on account of ill health was seldom permitted to attend.

She has often spoken of the importance of being prepared for the other life. Her favorite hymn and one she requested sung at her funeral is that grand old hymn “On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand.”
