August Prochnow a wealthy german died at his home in Jefferson township Sunday. It is stated that he refused outside assistance and died from the effects of scurvy, caused by the filth in which he lived. He was worth about $10,000 and left no heirs.

Page 8August Procnow, a well to do farmer residing in Jefferson township, died Sunday night. He was a man about sixty-five years old and lived all by himself, his wife having deserted him a good many years ago. Though he was comfortably well off he died in filth and squalor, the neighbors saying that his manner of living having more to do with his death than any disease. He has no relatives living except a sister in Germany.
