Mrs. Elizabeth Hudson, mother of T. J. Hudson and Mrs. George Duff, died of apoplexy at the Duff residence in the west part of the city, Tuesday evening at 10:30. Mrs. Hudson had just retired after passing the day in excellent health and spirits when she was seized with a violent fit of coughing. She murmured some indistinct words and became unconscious dying in a few moments.

The funeral was announced for Thursday but owing to the delay in the arrival of her son, Luther Hudson, of Chester, Nebraska, it was postponed until Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. The body was to be buried at the Worthington church, where her husband, one of the pioneer settlers of the county, is buried but owing to the impassable roads it will be interred in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Hudson was eighty years old last January. She came to Madison county in 1856 with her husband and children settling on the farm now owned by Eb Hays in Douglas township. After his death she went back to Indiana making her home part of the time with her son George Hudson and part of the time with her children here in later years.

She was a woman of untiring energy and sweet disposition and numbered among her friends a great many children who mourn her death with as great sorrow as her older friends. Four children survive her, T. J. Hudson and Mrs. George Duff, of this city, Luther Hudson of Chester, Nebraska and Will Hudson, of Harlan.
