RUTH L. BOND, Ankeny, Iowa

Ruth L. Bond, 87, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 23, at Ankeny Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2009, at Ankeny Church of The Brethren (417 SE Grant St. Ankeny, IA). Burial will be at 2:15 p.m. in Winterset Cemetery.

Ruth was born August 18, 1921, on a farm near Pitzer, IA, to Erwin and Ethel Bond. She graduated from White Oak High School. She attended Simpson and Drake Universities with a degree in education. She taught school in Lemon Grove, CA, and Ankeny for 43 years. She was active in the Church of The Brethren and the Penguins Friendship Group and served on many boards and committees.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Enolia Bond, Wilma Myers and Eyleen Severson.

Those left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews, Eugene and Wayne Myers and Kelli Maly of San Diego, CA, Steve Fausch and Cathy Miemann of Ankeny, Cinda Hathaway of Muscatine; and great nieces and great nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ankeny Church of The Brethren or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
