Page 1Obituary
Daniel Klingensmith was born in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, December 10, 1820, and departed this life June 27, 1900, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 17 days.
In the year 1838 he moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana, where he was twice married—first to Elizabeth Sheets, June 26, 1846. To this union were born three children—Eliza Jane, John and George. These, with their mother, preceded him. He was afterward married to Christina White, April 18, 1852. This union was blessed with four children—Jeremiah, Isaiah, Henry and Belle. Three of these, with his aged widow, survive him.
He was one of a family of thirteen children, none of whom are now living, except Samuel Klingensmith, of this county. One year prior to his death he suffered a paralytic stroke, from which he never fully recovered. His recent illness of two months’ duration brought to him great suffering, and death came as a relief. Uncle Dan, as he was familiarly known, will be sadly missed, not only in the home circle, but by the community at large. He was one of the pioneer settlers, having resided at the old home in Madison county, Iowa, for over forty years.
We as neighbors and friends would extend to Aunt Fena, the bereaved widow, and the children our heartfelt sympathy.
