Died, Sept. 22, 1899, a the residence of Wes Hague, Mr. Sam Garst, after a lingering illness with paralysis. He was 65 years old. The funeral sermon was preached at the house Sunday at ten o’clock by Rev. Sam Howe. He was buried by the side of his former wife in the Hartman cemetery.

Sam’l Garst was born in Roanoke county, state of Virginia, on the 22d of July 1834, died September 22d, 1899, aged 65 years, 2 months. He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Fowler, whose death occurred some twenty years ago.
He was stricken with paralysis some two months ago. During that time he suffered a great deal but finally death came and released him of his suffering.
His funeral was held at the home of his daughters where he died and was conducted by Rev. S. C. Howe, after which he was laid to rest in the Hartman cemetery.
