On Saturday at midday, the remains of Fred D. Lyon was consigned to a last resting place in St. Charles cemetery. The deceased grew up from childhood in this city and until recently was in robust health. His home for a time has been in Des Moines where he contracted disease, presumably from exposure during the high waters of the early summer.

His decline during the past two months has been rapid. He was brought to the home of his father, Mr. John Lyon, of this city, about six weeks ago where he received the skillful treatment of Dr. Roberts and the kind and constant attendance of his young wife, his father, brothers and sisters, all of which was powerless to prevent his death.

He was in his twenty-eighth year, one of the youngest of the family of six children and the first to have been stricken by death. He rests beside his mother who preceded him a few years.

The bereaved express their gratitude for the assistance and sympathy bestowed them in their season of distress.
