Samuel Long, a Madison Township Farmer, Chooses a Painful Method of Suicide.
Samuel Long, a farmer living a few miles south of Earlham, committed suicide on Tuesday night of last week. He was found lying unconscious, with an empty carbolic acid bottle by his side. He had purchased the acid at Earlham, saying that he wanted it to kill chicken lice.
Mr. Long had been despondent for some time, and was thought by some to be insane. He was about 50 years old. Under the circumstances an inquest was not considered necessary.
