James Vaughan, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Vaughan; living north of town, was run over by a switch engine in the union yards at Sioux City Monday and died Tuesday.
Mr. Vaughan was born and raised in this county, and about five years ago went to Sioux City where he has since been employed in the union yards.
He was a brother of Mrs. James McNamara. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan and Mrs. McNamara left Tuesday evening for Sioux City, The remains were brought to Winterset Thursday for burial.

Word was received here Tuesday afternoon from Sioux City that James Vaughn, a former resident of Madison county, had been killed. As we get it he was at work in a brick yard loading cars and in some way fell under the cars. His father, M. V. Vaughn left on Tuesday evening for Sioux City. The funeral will occur at the home of M. V. Vaughan tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 o’clock.

In last week’s REPORTER we noted the accidental death of James Vaughan at Sioux City, wherein he fell under a car and met his death. The remains were brought here and the funeral services were held at his father’s house in Douglas township, Friday, conducted by the Rev. Fred Berry, after which a long procession of sorrowing friends followed the remains to the Winterset cemetery.
Jas. Vaughan was born in Madison county, Iowa, Oct. 26th, 1865, and died September 6th, 1904. He had been married four years, and besides a wife and one child, he left his parents, one sister and one brother to mourn his loss.
