Thursday, April 7, 1983Dena F. Taylor, daughter of Knut and Ingeborg Skeie Fjetland, was born April 2, 1891 at Ellsworth, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church at Ellsworth were she also received her education.
She was married to Vernon Taylor of Jewell, Iowa on October 9, 1915 at Indianola, Iowa. To this union was born five children: Frederick of Mankato, Minnesota, Richard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Virginia Cole of Roland, Iowa, Barbara McFarland of Jewell, Iowa, and Alice Thomas of Earlham, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor came to Earlham in 1946. Her husband died in 1953. After the death of her husband, Dena moved to Jewell where she lived until 1979 when she entered Bethany Manor. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Sophia; and four brothers, Gustav, Conrad, Olaf and Daniel.
In addition to her five children, she is survived by two sisters, Millie Taylor of Webster City and Ida Fjetland of Ellsworth; one brother, Henri, of Ellsworth; also ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell on March 29, 1983 with Pastor Enoch Hall officiating. Mrs. Merle Engleson sang and was accompanied by Mrs. Cy Thompson. Casket bearers were grandsons Larry Cole, David Cole, Mike McFarland, Fred Taylor, Ric Taylor and Dan Doggett. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery at Jewell, Iowa.
