Mrs. George O. Hayes, 80, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the Muscatine Care Center following an extended illness.

Born September 12, 1893, at Pleasant Prairie, she was the daughter of D. H. and Emma Kistenmacher Tough. She was a former resident of Earlham, Iowa and had been a resident of this community for 30 years.

She married George O. Hayes, March 12, 1921, at Muscatine. Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Park Avenue Methodist church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Electa Chapter No. 32 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a past Matron of the Earlham chapter.

Survivors include her husband George O. Hayes, Muscatine; one son Lawrence W. Hayes, Bettendorf; one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Silberhorn, Muscatine; one brother Henry A. Tough, Winterset, Iowa; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence M. Morrison officiating. Interment was at Memorial Park cemetery.
