Attack of Angina Pectoris and Complication of Pneumonia Quickly Fatal. Community Joins in Spontaneous Tribute to Career Devoted to Profession.
Dr. Hiram Irvin, son of Dr. James F. and Martha Elizabeth Irvin was born in LaPorte, Ind., on Aug. 4, 1867, and departed this life at 2:00 o’clock Monday morning, Jan. 3rd, aged 59 years, 4 months and 29 days.
Dr. Irvin was married to Henrietta Vithinghoff of St. Louis, Mo., in the year 1889. To this union were born five sons: Dr. Harry C., a practicing physician and surgeon of Holland, Mich., James, the proprietor of the Art Sign Co. of Des Moines, Iowa; and Gerald of Earlham; Hiram and Fred died in the service of their country during the World War. Dr. Irvin completed his high school course in Adel, Iowa, after which he entered the Medical College at St. Louis, Mo., and graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in the year 1890. In the same year he began the practice of his chosen profession in Earlham, Iowa which place has been the scene of his labors until his death. We all know him and will forever remember him as a loving and kind father, always denying himself for the good of others. He has worked hard and diligently; never considering himself but doing his utmost to relieve the suffering of others without regard to any monetary gain. His motto was to live for others and give his service not only in a professional sense, but for any worthy cause.
He leaves to mourn his death besides his three sons, three brothers; namely, Thomas H., of Des Moines, Charles T. and James F. of Earlham. Also two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Bowlsby of Washington, and Mrs. Mary McNutt, of Des Moines, Iowa. Also three half sisters, Mrs. Irene Brown of St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Lidia Johnson of Perry, Iowa and Mrs. Anna ------ of Earlham, Iowa.

Paeg 5Dr. H. C. Irvin of Earlham died Monday morning following a short illness with angina pectoris. Dr. Irvin has been a practicing physician in Earlham for many years. He became ill last Wednesday and never recovered. He was fifty-nine years of age. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Earlham Wednesday afternoon and burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Dr. H. C. Irvin died early Monday morning at the home of his brother, Charles, after a three days illness at the age of 59 years. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon and burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
