Obituary

Harry Merrill Switzer, the son of Sherman and Myrtle Langley Switzer was born December 24, 1899 in Cherokee County, Iowa. He passed away July 3, 1980 at West Park Care Center in West Des Moines.

Harry graduated from Dexter High School in 1918. He attended Iowa State College in Ames graduating in 1923.

Harry taught high school in various Iowa communities including Eldon. He also later taught in the Omaha, Nebraska school system for many years.

In 1973 Harry moved to Earlham where he lived until poor health made it necessary for him to enter the Earlham Manor and later West Park Care Center in West Des Moines.

Survivors include 5 sister, Lois Switzer of Des Moines, Goldia Switzer of Ocean Side, California, Mrs. Jessie Blauman of Lemon Grove, California, Mrs. Dorothy Giles of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Grace Peters of Green Valley, Arizona; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and one brothers.

Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Robert Farr July 7 at the Penn Center Cemetery.
