CHARLES CAMPBELL DIES IN THE EAST

Young Marine Dies at Hampton Roads of Diptheria (Diphtheria) son of Ben Campbell

Ben Campbell received a telegram from the naval authorities at Hampton Roads, Virginia that his son Charles Campbell had died of diphtheria. The body is on the way to Winterset and the funeral will probably be held Friday.

The young marine is only eighteen years old. He left Winterset over a year ago and worked for a time in Kansas. He enlisted in the marines and was sent to Hampton Roads. He was sent to the hospital on account of blood poison resulting from a wound on the hand and was attacked by diphtheria and died.
