CAREY BUSCH Killed in Canada

Carey Busch was killed while at work on an elevator in Canada on last Thursday. The telegram giving this and intelligence gave no further information as to the manner of his death.

He was working at the carpenter trade and it is supposed that his death was due to a fall while engaged in the construction of the building.

The young man was raised near Macksburg. His father, Peter Busch, resides near Patterson. Before moving to Canada, he worked in and near Winterset for several years and was well known and well liked by the young people of his acquaintance. We understand that the body wil be brought here for burial, arriving tomorrow.

Carey Conrad Busch was born in Brown county, Ohio, Oct. 8, 1880 and died July 11, 1913.

He came with his parents to Iowa when a child and has lived here till he went to Canada in March, 1912. His health not being very good, he went to Provo, Alberta, Canada, hoping that a change of climate would benefit him. It was there the accident happened that terminated his life.

The way in which Mr. Busch met his death, as we have been informed, was under the following circumstances. He with another workman were putting on the roof boards of an elevator that was being erected. A strong wind was blowing which made the work very difficult. The overseer had just gone up and told them that they had better quit as it was getting too dangerous. They said that they would put the board down that they had. A gust of wind caught one end of the board, whirling it against Mr. Busch hurling him to the ground, where he received injuries from which he died shortly after. His body was brought back to his old home and interred at Macksburg.

The funeral was under the charge of the Odd Fellows of Macksburg, of which lodge he was an esteemed member. Rev. John H. Stewart, of the Baptist church of Winterset, preached the funeral sermon and assisted the Odd Fellows at the interment.

He leaves a father, mother, two brothers and five sisters to mourn his untimely end.

Mr. Busch had for some time, according to a letter received by a friend of his, contemplated being baptized and uniting with the church but put it off. There was, however, good reason to hope that he died believing in the power of Jesus Christ to save even though he had not made this public profession.

The sympathy of the community goes out to the poor sick mother, the father, brothers and sisters in this hour of their great sorrow.
