CAROLYN AUSTIN, St Charles

Carolyn Hope Austin, 79, died Nov. 1, 2008, at her St. Charles home.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Nov. 5) at St. Charles Parish with the Rev. Cheri Gelner officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Carolyn Austin was born March 2, 1929, to Kenneth Franklin and Fern Clarice (Hope) Rockey of Earlham and was a graduate of Peru High School. Her marriage to Jerry Dean Austin took place March 2, 1947, in Peru. Carolyn worked as a cook at the St. Charles school, wrote for the Winterset Madisonian and managed the Farmers & Merchants State Bank branch in St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by three sons, Bruce Austin of Prole and Bill Austin and Dana Austin, both of St. Charles; three daughters, Sandra Lundberg of Iowa City, Debra Richards of Brainerd, Minn., and Jeanne Brown of Greenfield; a sister, Joy Lull of Las Cruces, N.M.; and 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
