CLAIR WENCK, WINTERSET

Clair (C.W.) F. Wenck, 64, of Winterset died Oct. 14, 2008, at Karen Acres Health Care Center in Urbandale.

Memorial services were held Friday, Oct. 17, at Living Faith Lutheran Church in Clive with Pastor Don Boeschen officiating. Burial of the cremains was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Clair Wenck was born July 12, 1944, in Lake City to Paul and Darlene (Houdeshell) Wenck. He was confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale and was a graduate of Emmanuel Lutheran School (eighth grade) and Lake City Community High School. He also was baptized in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City. Clair had been a resident of Winterset for the past 20 years. He had worked 30 years at the former Hershel’s Manufacturing in Indianola as a forklift driver where he received several perfect attendance certificates. In 1995, Clair was named “Employee of the Year.”

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Darlene Wenck of Winterset; one son, Curtis Wenck of Glenwood; one daughter, Christy Abrams of Papillion, Neb.; a sister, Paulette Suffel of Waukee; and two grandchildren.
