Henry Macumber, son of J. A. and Emily Huntley, was born in Gallia county, Ohio, Feb. 11, 1843, and died at his home March 5, 1913, after an illness of several years, aged 70 years and 22 days.

March 6, 1878 he and Nancy O. Fisher were united in marriage. Her death occurred on Dec. 13, 1892. Seven children blessed this union, one dying when a babe, Lou, June, 1897, at the age of 16. The five remaining children, Eell, Hess, Otto, Hattie Gonseth and Pearl Welch, with 7 brothers, Andrew, Alexander, Linze, Ed, John, George and Elsworth, and one sister, Esther Ann Greer survive him.

When a lad he came with his parents and brothers to Madison county where he has since resided. His life was a pioneers life. He saw this country change from virgin prairies to the fruitful farms. The Macumbers helped make Madison county history and he did his part. He was a man of ability and a kind heart, and was loved and respected by those who knew him best. The needy always found in him a friend. His children can truthfully say he was a good father and showed their affection by their loving and tender care of him in his last days.

The funeral services were held on March 6th at the Christian Union church, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis and interment was made in the Clark cemetery.
