Death of James Orr

James Orr, who died August 17th in Madison township, was buried the 18th, his funeral being held at Bethel church, Rev. Follansbee officiating.

Mr. Orr was born in Ross county, Ohio, in 1811 and was nearly 87 years of age. He moved to Iowa in 1880. He was married to Martha C. Thomson in Ross county Ohio, June 2, 1831; she died 11 years ago.

Obituary

James Orr was born in Ross county, Ohio, Nov. 20th, 1811, and died in Madison township, Madison county, Iowa, August 17th, 1898, aged 80 years, 8 months, and 27 days. He married Martha Thompson June 2d, 1831, in his native country. To them were born five children two of whom are living, Geo. H. and James, both being residents of this county. In 1880 the deceased moved to this county. His funeral was held at Bethel church, Rev. Follasnbee officiating. His remains were interred in the cemetery two miles southeast of Bethel where all that was mortal of his life long companion was laid eleven years ago. He had been a member of the M. E. church for nearly sixty-five years.

Note: Burial was made in the Beem-Beardsley cemetery.
