Local PickupsThe funeral of Mr. James McMullen was conducted at the residence of deceased in this city Sunday, be Rev. Ely and Riheldaffer. Mr. McMullen died Saturday. He was an old and respected citizen, being 83 years of age at time of death.

Pg 5James McMullen died Friday, June 3, 1898, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cash. Mr. McMullen was born in Ohio, January 23, 1815. He was married to Mary Thornton at Urbana, Ohio, in 1833; where they family lived until 1851, when they moved to Oskaloosa, remaining there until about fourteen years ago, when they came to Winterset. Mr. McMullen was of Scotch descent and a member of the Methodist church. He leaves a widow, two sons who reside in Washington, D. C., one daughter whose home is in Chicago, and the daughter Mrs. Cash, with whom he has made his home for many years.
Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
