Obituary

Mary J. Weaver was born in Washington county, Maryland, January 18, 1830, and died at her home near Patterson, Madison county, Iowa, January 12, 1898.

On April 15, 1839, she came with her parents to Richmond, Ohio. On October 1, 1850, she was married to Joseph N. Freeborn; to them were born 8 children, 6 of whom are still living, 2 died in childhood. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1843, and was a faithful and consistent member up to the time of her death. The funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church at Patterson, January 14th, in the presence of a large congregation, by her pastor, A. Hancox, assisted by Rev. Zike, of the U. B. church, and Rev. Elder, of the Disciple church, after which the remains were laid away in the cemetery northeast of Patterson.

Note: Burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.
