Gone Home.

Emily T. Odell died at her home in Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 8, 1897, at 3 o’clock p.m., aged 37 years, 7 months and 18 days. She was born in Adair county, Kentucky, April 20, 1859.

In August, 1870, she was converted and became a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. She came to Iowa with her parents in January, 1879, and here joined the United Brethren church, of which she remained a devoted member until death. She was married to John J. Odell Oct. 21, 1880. To them were born five children, four sons and one daughter, four of whom survive her, and mourn the loss of a loving mother and wise counselor. She was sick for almost three years before death came to relieve her from her suffering and pain, yet in all that time she did not murmur or complain at the cross she was called upon to bear. We commend the bereaved father and children to Him who doeth all things well.

Note: Burial was made in the Union Chapel South cemetery. Transcribed as published, middle initial is "F". The gravestone erroneously lists year of death as 1898.
