The funeral services of Mrs. Barnes was held at Union Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Her death was caused by malarial fever.

Winterset Madisonian – October 20, 1897

Mrs. Barnes, who lived on what is known as the Hahn farm, five miles east of town, died last Friday, and was buried Sunday at the Union Chapel cemetery. The Barnes family moved to that locality from Des Moines about a year ago.
