Sudden Death

At 4:00 o’clock Sunday morning occurred the death of Mrs. D. A. Sawyers of Macksburg. She died very suddenly of heart trouble; the devoted husband having but a few moments warning before her life was extinct.

Margaret M. Humble was born January 13th, 1843, at Burlington, Iowa. She was married to Mr. D. A. Sawyers in 1863 at Unionville, Iowa. The family moved to Macksburg seventeen years ago. Since that time two only daughters have been laid to rest. Mrs. Sawyers was of a bright, sunny disposition and will be greatly missed in her home and social circles. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, and had a confiding hope in Christ. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon from the Baptist church.

Mrs. David Sawyer Dead.

Died, at her home in Macksburg, June 20, 1897, Mrs. Margaret Sawyers, of heart failure. She was born at Burlington, Iowa, June 13, 1843. On September 13, 1863, she was married to David A. Sawyers at Unionville, Iowa. To them were born two children, Nellie and Myrtle, who have passed on before. Only her husband survives her.

Mrs. Sawyers had been ailing with heart trouble a long time, and expected to be call to go at any time, fully prepared to meet her Redeemer. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother, ever hopeful and self-sacrificing for the comfort of others. Her noble example and Christian character remain a precious heritage to the friends she left behind.

The funeral, which was largely attended, was held at the Baptist church June 21st at 3 p.m., the services being preached by the Rev. W. D. Myers. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery south of Macksburg.

Note: Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
