Died.—Jacob Payton, of De Soto, Ia., died at his home Thursday night, February 4th. He moved from Indiana in the spring of 1866, to the north part of Madison county, where he was an extensive farmer and stock raiser. When he retired from active life he moved to De Soto, where he passed the remainder of his life. He was noted for his genial disposition, strict honesty and deep piety. From boyhood he had been a faithful member and worker in the M. E. church.
