Died, of diphtheria, Friday, January 26th, 1897, George Irwin, the youngest son of Mrs. M. Powell, aged 14 years, 2 months and 2 days.
The family has the sympathy of the entire community in this, their sad bereavement.
The following verses were composed by Grace Grout, a schoolmate of the deceased:There’s another of our schoolmates
Gone to that bright world above,
Gone to join his Heavenly Master
Where all is peace and joy and love.
How we miss his pleasant smiles
In our school work here below,
But we know that he has gone
Where we all may hope to go.
He has gone from the home circle
Where is left a vacant chair,
But we know we all shall meet him
When we climb the golden stair.
Oh how sadly he’ll be missed
By his many schoolmates dear,
With them his fond heart was united
In the pleasures of last year.
To his mother, sister, brothers,
We extend a kindly hand,
Hoping by their trust in God
They may join that heavenly band.
Note: Burial was made in the Union Chapel South cemetery.
