Obituary

Eleanora Winifred Newsham, daughter of John and Josephine Newsham, was born December 11, 1883 at Macon, Illinois and passed away on July 22, 1968 at the Horton nursing home in Winterset.

Most of her girlhood days and early womanhood were spent in Illinois. On July 13, 1908 she was united in marriage to George C. Mills. To this union were born four children: George and Dale of Earlham and two children who died in infancy. They made their home in Illinois for a few years, coming to Iowa in 1917 where they engaged in farming until the death of her husband in 1932.

She was converted and joined the Methodist church as a young girl. She was a faithful member of the Earlham United Methodist church and attended regularly as long as her health permitted.

Throughout her years of illness, this strong Christian faith sustained and comforted her. She was active in the Woman’s Society of Christian Service and was a long-time member of the Friendly Circle.

She is survived by two sons, George and Dale, and her daughter-in-law, Pauline and Irene, all of Earlham, and one brother, Frank E. Newsham of Macon, Illinois. Also surviving are six grandchildren. They are Patricia (Mrs. Tom Killion) of Dubuque; Charles Mills presently serving in the U.S. Air Force near Las Vegas, Nevada; Lorraine (Mrs. Gary Barr) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Linda Mills of Fort Dodge; and John and Mary Mills at home.

She also leaves three great grandsons: Brian Killion and Douglas and Steven Barr; and many nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
